I can honestly say that before this I have never actually had my own personal issue with religion and gay rights, but now that I have…
I will post this shit everywhere.
Notes before I begin, I am Catholic. I don’t actually walk around spewing bible quotes at people, or saying ‘May the Lord be with you’, but it was to make a point.
I posted this picture on instagram and tumblr the other day because I didn’t really want to change my pictures but I wanted to show my support. I also am bothered that because of my religion, I am categorized under this label of hate. So I wrote this on my hand and the T in equality is supposed to be a cross, showing that there are Christians (Catholics) that believe in equality and gay rights. (my entire church is a great example)
I tagged it as “Equality”, “Christianity” (to generalize), “LGBT”, and “Marriage”. I got lots of likes on it, and one of my friends (Julie) commented on it about the caption. But then this woman started commenting talking about “God’s standard”, which got me all angry because I have always been taught that God’s standard was to love one another and basically the point of being on earth was to do good and be kind to people, so I got pretty annoyed with that.
This is the conversation I had with her. I credit the bible quotes to my (gay) brother, and I want people to know that not all Christian people are bigots, just the crazy ones (cough cough born-agains cough).
I like to think I won this one.
